Frequently asked questions
What is the price to register for these programs?
All of our programs are completely FREE in order to best serve the needs of our community!
Who are our volunteers?
Our volunteers are all University students at Wilfrid Laurier, many of which come from the Social Work or Youth and Children's Studies programs, who are passionate about learning and teaching. They complete an application process and we provide training before each session.
Which days does the program run?
Both of our programs run Monday through Thursday between 4-7pm.
I have more than one child, can they be put together?
Yes! Although not required at all, we encourage siblings to be paired together with one volunteer so that we have more volunteers available to be paired with other children.
How will this work online?
We will be using Zoom to run our sessions for the fall term. You will be paired with a volunteer within a specific time slot and then they will create and send out a zoom link for you to join. We will ensure that volunteers password protect the calls so that you and your child are the only people who will be admitted.
Where can I join virtual learning rooms?
Our drop in sessions can be accessed through the "Online Sessions" tab, as well as on the link in our calendar!
How do I join a session?
Once you click on the "join session" link, you will be taken to the Zoom application. This can be accessed on any platform, (ie. phone, tablet, laptop). We reccommend making a Zoom account and downloading the application for the best experience.
How do I register?
To register you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org as we have a limited number of spaces available.
When are sessions?
Sessions occur biweekly (every other week) on Wednesdays at 6-7pm. Once you sign up you will receive the link to more information.
